Flesh and Bone

by Ray

My fellow beings lack soul in their eyes.
They are now fond of epicaricacy.
There's hopelessness; all I see is mankind.
Now their love for another is a soliloquy.
Are we all just flesh and bones,
With no warmth of empathy?

Lighting up Methodists and temples,
Bowing their heads to their Almighty.
Why haven't thy values put thee in shackles?
What a shame humans are devoid of humanity.
Are we all just flesh and bones,
With a lost sense of fraternity?

Adorn daughters of thine with glimmering dresses,
While thy eyes are blind to blood stains,
Oh, the stains, and that's never addressed.
And thou solemnly swear humanity is the same?
Are we all just flesh and bones?
When did cruelty turn into fatality?

Shall the words thee read ever be actions?
Canst humanity survive the wrath of divisions?
Will his teachings be preached, rather than his religion?
Canst we not embrace all colours, loves, and devotions?
At the end, we're all just flesh and bones;
It's the soul that survives ephemerality.
