Happier Days

I want to sit in a tent,
on the outskirts of lightly lapping, laughing tidal waves,
to the sound of her and I cooking skits,
over emboldened campfires with two bears,
who go through relationship trauma,
and struggle to keep her.
Harry Styles couldn't keep the girl,
guitar slamming to the floor,
in video-taped dramatics.
The branches became gnarled roots,
beneath consumer-esque towers of books,
crumbling underneath the accumulated weight,
of time and soil.
But I always had her.
Will always have her,
until long after we're gone.
