The Shy Moon

I hide behind curtains of clouds,
a silver blush in the midnight shroud.
I peek through gaps at the world below,
a silent observer
no one seems to know.
I watch lovers wander,
dreamers dare,
I cradle their secrets
in the cold night air.
Though I glow,
my light feels shy,
a timid queen
in a velvet sky.
I long to descend,
to touch, to be near—
yet I drift above,
bound by my fear.
